Country Meets Town Mini Fun Day Interviews

What do scavenger hunts, photography, country cowboys and farmers and computers have in common?  They were all part of the Learning Centre's Country Meets Town Kidsfest Mini Fun Day!  Our first holiday programme at the newly opened New Brighton Learning Centre got off to a flying start this July school holidays, with some children dressing up in checked shirts, cowboy hats and gumboots to really get into the theme.

Kidsfest Country Fun!

These July school holidays, the Sydenham Room at SLC has undergone a makeover as hay bales and cowboy hats meet cafe tables and sidewalks in our Kidsfest "Country Meets Town' Fun Days!  First up, over 100 children and parents gathered to watch Shad Rutherford work his magic, including balloon animals, singing and jokes galore.  Following the gales of laughter, groups of children stayed on to take part in our fun days.

Kidsfest School Holiday Country Meets Town Funday!

We have a range of holiday programmes running this July, including a 'Country meets Town' Fun Day!  Come along dressed up in your favourite town or country outfit and take a digital photo of yourself, perhaps sitting on our hay bales!  Then transport your photo onto a town or country background.  Take part in a Google Earth Search Quiz, a photo scavenger hunt and even learn how to line dance!  There will be spot prizes throughout the day, and these programmes will run at South Learning Centre on 5, 6, and 16 July and at Upper Riccarton on 7 July, 9:30am-3:30pm.&nbsp

Creative Lantern-Makers

The Year of the Tiger, the Year of the Rabbit ... what year are you?  This question was answered by children taking part in our Lantern-Making January holiday class, as they explored the idea of Chinese New Year.
