The South Learning Centre was lucky enough to have a visit from Australian children's writer and entertainer Mark Carthew last Friday.

A collaborative project with Christchurch City Council’s City Environment Group and South Learning Centre enabled students from Beckenham and Cashmere Primary schools to research and develop their own school travel plan brochures.

Term Four sees the addition of two more online book clubs to the network. Rosie Mamoe has started a new club at Upper Riccarton Library and Laura de Haro and Ahbeyott Mane are doing the same at New Brighton Library.

Popular children's author, Chrissie Perry visited the South Book Club on the last day of term - 25 September 2009. She is one of the group of writers who produce the Go Girls books.
